Shopping Gilbert Arenas...is there even a Market?

So Washington is obviously heavily shopping Gilbert Arenas. The Question is, who's buying?

This comes to my attention today (not like it doesn't every day) mostly by the immediate 120$ mil offer the Hawks immediatley made to Joe Johnson. I have one thing to say about this...why? And the answer is likely an already in-place Sign and Trade between the Hawks and another party already holding the asset(s) they're going to trade. Now, I believe Johnson is a great player. But a Max Contract is a Max Contract...and I'm not so sure Johnson at his age deserves such. Will he be a great asset on a team? of course. But let's look at it with refrence to Washington. Absolutely a fantastic player to add along side #2 John Wall. According to Leonsis, however, this possibility of SnT Arenas for Johnson is counter to what Leonsis "championship build" is. Johnson is not young, and will be 34 when his contract is over. At the same time, however, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen aren't young either, but they were both in the Finals this year, as well as Champions two years prior. I'm not saying Johnson will be a champion, but I'm not saying he's not bad either. I think, in regard to Arenas, that he's left too much of a sour taste in Washington, and will never regain the Love. There's a lot of haters out there who don't fully understand Gilbert's work ethic, his talent, and how he was not the Locker Room killer that Caron Butler was. But his image is rotten in the eyes of the most powerful city in the world, let alone the world itself, and will not get the energy from the crowd that Arenas feeds in during clutch moments of the game. He's not going to be a good piece in the Wizards' puzzle any longer, and needs to be moved to avoid yet another mediocre season, at best.

Joe Johnson for Gilbert Arenas (Atlanta Hawks)- Not bad at all. Johnson could be a decent veteran leader as well as a perfect compliment to Wall's inaugural season. Joe doesn't want or need to "be the guy." Atlanta can't rely on Mike Bibby's inconsistant aging performances, and will look to add a point guard, be it future developing, or instant, such as Gilbert. The concern, same as Gilbert's, is this proposed long term contract. Now, Gilbert's is different, cause the guy has missed over 80% of the last 3 seasons' games. Johnson, at least, has more potential to produce.

Vince Carter for Gilbert Arenas (Orlando Magic)- Similar to the Joe Johnson situation, just without the extended contract. This seems to have the most "legs." Carter isn't the "Half Man Half Amazing" anymore, but he's some where around "one-fifth amazing, three-fiths man, and another-fifth aging." However, this falls into Leonsis' strategy, as it would rid of Gilbert's longterm contract, rent Vince Carter for the year (which could be traded or bought out mid-season...((highly unlikely if happens, though)) and continue to add young players through draft picks and PERHAPS convince Carmelo Anthony to leave the Nuggets and come back to his Home town. I'd say that Carmelo is on a more elite level than Johnson, so the age thing wouldn't be an issue. Carmelo's attitude and immaturity at times (which we already have problems with Blatche) might not be the best way, but you can't doubt the fan support  and skills Carmelo will bring to the Phone Booth. The Magic have Jameer Nelson, but he disappeared in the late round of the playoffs, and that sent red flags to management. But, Gilbert wouldn't replace Jameer, he's act as the two guard and swing over time to time, where he can be most effective. Gilbert hasn't really had a true big man to work with (Haywood was always "developing") so not much would be known how much 'better' he could be in production ((if healthy and not threatening teammates with illegal firearms)) along side Dwight Howard.

Yao Ming for Gilbert Arenas (Houston Rockets)- Yao opted for his 17+ mil contract a few days ago, keeping him out of free agency and on the Rockets Roster. The Rockets, however, are interested in the acquisition of Chris Bosh (Bosh's first visit this morning, July 1st) Bosh has been rumored to be enticed by returning to his home state, and enjoying the tax freeness of Texas. With a current front court of Aaron Brooks and Kevin Martin, why would Arenas and his contract be added? Well, Rick Adelman isn't and hasn't been pushing a slow down and let the Center Jam it In There kinda coach in my eyes watching Houston play, so removing Yao, adding Gilbert and Bosh, and making a move for Brendan Haywood while retaining Scola with Bird rights may be what Adelman is shooting for. Sure, brooks or Martin may take a back seat, or maybe Adelman will force Arenas to compete for the job...who knows. Yao in DC, alongside former teammate Yi Jianlian (who would likely play a perimeter role more than anything else as a PF) would only be for a year, if his Foot(s) ((feet I know)) allow him too. Perhaps even convincing Shaquille O'Neal to play for a Mid Level Exception with Yao and Wall this season would be interesting. The Two biggest Center's on one squad. Shoot, while we're add it, sign Shawn Bradley, who's rumored to be working on a return, just for a league minimum season. We've got that history in DC with the late Manute Bol and the frequently visiting George Murisan.

Andrew Bynum and Sasha Vujacic for Gilbert Arenas (Los Angelas Lakers)- Why not send Gilbert out to LA where he can get into all the trouble he wants and fit right in with all the Hollywood attention he craves and desires constantly? With the high probability of Phil Jackson retiring, the Lakers need to be considering the actual future of the team. Right now Derek Fisher and Jordan Farmar or Shannon Brown aren't great options of any sort, and they still win a championship. With Kobe Bryant, Ron Artest, Lamar Odom, and Pau Gasol locked in the starting lineup, Bynum and Vujacic are expendable large contracts for LA to use on a skilled point guard. Kobe doesn't need a guy that creates shots well for others (although Gilbert shown he had improved greatly for the small showcase last season, averaging over 7 assists) but he does want a lights out shooter that draws a lot of attention from defense, and that's exactly what Gilbert does. Bynum has proven he has elite potential, but he's still going to be a back up to Gasol, which is the true champion center. When on the floor together, Bynum's numbers are nearly half his production. They don't perform well together, and Bynum's contract is near hellish for an injury prone backup. Sasha has this last year left on his contract of near worth of 6$ mil. You have Kobe Bryant, he's his own sixth man. Bringing in Sasha and Bynum to Washington, giving them starting positions and getting them the experience an opportunity to reach full potential is exactly what Leonsis wants to do in building the future of the Wizards. I can't think of a better situation for Washington, as long as Bynum stays healthy. What a lineup 2011-2012 would be if we were to acquire Melo. Wall, Vujacic/Hinrich, Anthony, Blatche (meh...), Bynum. That is youth and talent, as well as defense (not from Blatche's part, obviously) Perhaps Trevor Booker will become a monster.

David Lee and Eddy Curry (and a future pick(s)) for Gilbert Arenas and SnT Mike Miller and Andray Blatche New York Knicks - I know, I know, you see Eddy Curry and cringe...but you gotta take a little to get a little. The Knicks desperately need a point guard, and why not one with a criminal record? (just kidding, NY) Taking away Curry's contract is well worth giving in to Gilbert's Contract. Mike Miller would be sign and traded (11$millish) (despite how much I wish we could keep him) to match the cost of Lee's expected 13-16 million contract and Curry's. Curry's contract is only for the year...and you NEVER KNOW, he might swith it on so that someone other than the Mexican Basketball Association ((no, there's no such thing)) offers him a contract next season...But the big piece is obviously David Lee. I'm not sure about him, as I can't lie and say I even watched a full knicks game this season, and when I was watching the bits,  I wasn't only looking for what Danilo Gallinari can do. But, by the numbers (and the hype) a young 20-10+ guy ((even though it's in D'Antoni's run n gone offense favoring those numbers (((which doesn't make sense to me...who cares why it happens, it still happens))) can't hurt. And he'd obviously be a better option than Andray Blatche.

So....there are some decent options for different teams...I hope ANY of these bite...but if they don't, I don't doubt at all that Gilbert will do everything he can to be a winner for Washington. If it comes to it, have Faith, DC, have fatih Wizards fans, keep up the PURE ENERGY, and let the age of Wall begin...

Or we could convince LeBron James or Dwyane Wade to come to DC....but I'm not touching that with a twelve foot alligator.

#28 - Browns (4-12)
#29 - Broncos (4-12)
#30 - Jaguars (3-13)
#31 - Lions (2-14)
#32 - Bills (1-15)

#1 -Jets - This team had the best defense in the league last year...and actually improved it during the offseason. Trading for Antonio Cromartie and Drafting Kyle Wilson and then signing Donovan Warren...GL passing the ball NE, Miami, well....anyone. Losing TJ and Leon wont affect much as Shonn Greene will prove he can be an everydown back while getting plenty of tips from LT, who will spell here in and there. Year Two for Mark Sanchez...it's going to be "dirty, filthy, and NASTY." With Braylon Edwards and Jerricho Cotchery on one side, and Superbowl MVP Santonio Holmes on the other....I am betting the farm the Jets are AFC Champions 2010.

#2 -Colts - Peyton Manning won't miss a beat this season. His WR's need to stay healthy (see Pierre Garcon, Anthony Gonzalez) let alone Reggie Wayne and Austin Collie. Dallas Clark is a top 3 TE in the league and will continue to move the chains with Manning. Their draft focused on some defense and refused to focus on a young QB. Mike Hart is far behind Donald Brown and Joseph Addai, but shouldnt be forgotten. Jerry Hughes (1st round) will most likely be set at defensive end to become a speedy pass rusher around the outside. Jacques McClendon (OG - fourth round) should be a strong asset in the OL rotation this season, giving Manning an even larger edge against the opposing secondary. With a decent schedule running through the NFC east, the Colts still show they will be hunting for another trip to the superbowl.

#3 -Ravens - Joe Flacco has two more weapons this season in Dante Stallworth and more importantly, Anquan Boldin. Anquan has great sideline ability and Stallworth can cut across the middle for those dumpy slant route passes. MarK Clayton and Derrick Mason wont be forgotten either. Ray Rice is projected to gain even more yards than last year with the upgraded WR core and is a solid target in your fantasy draft for at least 1500+ 12+ TDs this season. Depending on the health of Todd Heap, the Ravens could move ahead as a top offensive team, which will have people doing a double take when they see them leading the score boards and yardage leaders. Players like Dominque Foxworth and Lardarius Webb need to improve this offseason in order for the secondary, the team's only recognizable weakness, to keep this team from slipping. Ray Lewis? I dont think he'll ever stop playing this game, let alone stop playing it well.

#4 -Chargers - ***Running situation? Coaching?***

#5 -Cowboys - I don't care how bad Wade Phillips is as a coach, or how much Romo is over rated, the offensive weapons, and Felix Jones being in his 3rd season, subplanting Marion Barber as starter, the Cowboys are this year's New Orleans Saints. Roy Williams hasnt shown much, but he will when he's pushed the entire preseason and regular season by rookie Dez Bryant. Miles Austin? Pro Bowl. Don't forget about Jason Witten. They will have questions on defense...none to label specificaly, but it will be enough, Romo will finally do it after tasting blood last year, the Cowboys, as much as I hate saying it, will be NFC Champions 2010. (Only if McNabahan doesn't turn the skins into an outstanding team, and the Madden Curse doesn't skip a beat in New Orleans.)

#6 -Packers - ***Improved Defense***

#7 -Dolphins - ***Henne and Marshall + CB's***

#8 -49ers - Alex Smith....being argued as a #1 Bust and with all the Jemarcus Russel talking, his name pops in here and there. This year, will be different. I'm pulling a Jason Campbell logic (already this sounds like crap, I know) but he's under the same consecutive offensive coordinator and play calling for the first time in his pro career. His shoulder should be back to %100, and has been given a new talented young o-line (Mike Iupati and Anthony Davis) to protect him, as well as the organization backing him %100 now and have shown theyre comitted solely to him. Let's also mention that he "should" be starting with better field position off of kick and punt returns with the acquisition of Ted Ginn Jr. Other key points that drasticaly improve the 49ers is Vernon Davis' head has shrunk back to earth thanks to Mike Singletary (genius without pants) and Michael Crabtree will play in games 1 thru 5. You're a fool if you dont think Michael Crabtree is a great player and has a large impact on the offensive push. Josh Morgan is in his third season and is projected to have a breakout season. You also never know if Ted Ginn might actually work on his catching skills this offseason.......you never know, but im not counting on that. Dont forget that Glenn Coffee is a backup. And to who? the perennial injury machine Frank Gore. But Frank Gore is plenty enough to dominate day in and out as a dual threat RB easily a top 10 in the league. I also want to point out that the 49ers have the best LB in football, Patrick Willis. He's young, he's a tackling machine, and everyone would pay top dollar for him. Let's also not forget about Manny Lawson and Takeo Spikes. But adding someone like Taylor Mays at Safety....a freak hard hitting athlete that only dropped in the draft because of off the field intangibles, please...Mike will just drop his drawers and he'll be under the Singletary spell. This team has a lot of talent, and is ready to use it. With one of the easiest schedules in the NFL this season, It's a lock that the 49ers are in the playoffs, making a run at a superbowl.

#9 -Vikings - ***Favre or Jackson, Harvin and Peterson***

#10 - Superbowl Champion Saints - Congratulations to New Orleans for their victory in their Team's first trip to the superbowl. Here's what to prepare for: Your quarterback is jinxing the entire season by agreeing to become the cover of Madden 11 (voted by the fans,) your team, and city, wont give the same energy and motivation because it's no longer your team's "first" superbowl, and you're still the same team as last year, but with a schedule a bit harder. I don't doubt your youth and talent, but why havnt you re-signed Pierre Thomas yet? What's with signing 14 undrafted free agents? I know you're the champions, but you have to believe your competetion is improving during the offseason, why not at least make an effort? Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention, or as many say I know nothing about football. Perhaps Darren Sharper will continue to help your team and give some great leadership, but Shockey doesnt run your team, so who cares what he says. Dallas, Minnesota, San Fran, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh....and maybe even Arizona losses with a split with Atlanta. I see (and so does Miss Cleo) at least 4 losses in there.

#11 -Steelers - Ben's out for Six games. The Steelers improved with the pickup of a young center, where theie offensive line is possibly the worst in the league (side by side with Washington.) Their draft focused on their defensive ends and snatched Jonathan Dwyer in the sixth. The only problem is Baltimore improved dramaticaly and the Browns are looking less like an easy win with their defense improving. Roethlisberger's immaturity off the field IS going to have an affect on this team, but he'll rally them in his return to just barely beat out cincinnati and KC for the wild card.

#12 -Redskins - ***McNabbahan and Runningback Committee***

#13 -Bengals - ***TE and Cedric Benson***

#14 -Giants - ****Coughlin youre in or out, Brandon Jacobs?***

#15 -Bears - Jay Cutler isn't the greatest, but he just needs some time to get better....one thing that seems to frustrate JC is his team's lack of defense last year that would have saved many games (not to mention Cutler's Ints either....) But with his young receivers (Devin Aromashodu, Johnny Knox) and the WR Project Devin Hester, can you blame him?  TE Greg Olsen is a major impact on Cutler's offense and will continue to grow into a top receiving TE. Will Matt Forte turn back into his rookie year form? Even if not, Chester Taylor and Brandon Minor will be waiting to fill in. Landing Julius Peppers should improve leaps and bounds, as well as having a healthy Brian Urlacher for hopefully the entire season. In the draft Chicago addressed their defensive needs just fine.  Wakeup, NFC North, Chicago is gonna be grizzly. Shame their schedule is super tough.

#16 -Falcons - ***Michael Turner, Michael Turner, and Tony Gonzalez, and Michael Turner***

#17 -Chiefs - ***New SS, Matt Cassell a bust?Dwayne Bowe wakeup***

#18 -Eagles -***Kevin Kolb or Vick week 4? Young***

#19 -Seahawks -***Great Draft, Hasselback Healthy***

#20 -Patriots -
Everyone (except Dolphin, Jet, and Bill fans (wait bills fans dont really care)) wants Tom Brady to return to form. If he does, he's going to have some trouble anyways. Rookie Rob Gronkowski will need to be useful this season, Wes Welker will be sorely missed with injury, and Randy Moss is being Randy Moss again (the Bad one, not the Good one.) Let's hope he keeps interest in winning with the Patriots rather than wanting to win with another team sometime midseason. BenJarvus Green-Ellis should become the featured back, how soon will it be necessary though? Look for Rookie linebacker Jermaine Cunningham to turn some heads, and hopefully give NE the pass rush they need in order to pressure the young QBs in their division. The Patriots are falling behind and really need to pick it up with their very tough schedule this season. (Now bring on the hate for their 6-10, but look at the schedule...Chi, GB, Minn, Balt, Cin, Pitt, Indy, San Diego....Not to mention the Jets and Dolphins twice.)

#21 - Titans - ***Chris Johnson has a slow year after all those carries last year, Vince Young lol***

#22 -Cardinals - ***No more Warner, Lienhart a bust***

#23 -Texans - ***no more Kyle Shanahan, Slaton continues woes***

#24 -Buccaneers - ***Improving, but just not there yet***

#25 -Panthers - ***Moore blowsup first game, Clausen takes over, but team can't get it going on defense***

#26 -Rams - Sam Bradford out performs Matt Stafford by leaps and bounds this year. Steven Jackson has proven to be one of the elite dual threat runningbacks in the league, now let's see if he can continue while theyr prep the Rams young franchise QB. Rams are going to steal a few wins here and there from unsuspecting teams and really show that theyre ready to make a run at a winning season......soon, just maybe not this year. Perhaps signing on Brian Westbrook to help spell Jackson will help add more running plays and let Bradford manage an easier game focusing mostly on the run. Roger Staffold should add enough protection to help Sam Bradford get 20 comfortable throws a game.

#27 -Raiders - ***Campbell doesnt fix anything, defense improves, but cant win games***

#28 -Browns -***Awful...rely heavily on running game and just can't stop the offensive monsters they match up to play***

#29 -Broncos - ***Wide Receivers cant get the ball into their hands, because noone can throw them.***

#30 -Jaguars - ***Where are they headed? Vegas? SouCal?***

#31 -Lions - ***Stafford does fine, the defense does not***

#32 -Bills - Sorry Buffalo, your management and coaches wanted more "Pow, Pizazz, and excitement" on your team, not wins, so they drafted C.J. Spiller. There were so many other options available that would have helped your team immediately, or even trading down for a possible QB project in McCoy or Clausen (dont need to mention Tebow, thats just R-tarded) The Bills failed to bite, and being in the second toughest division in football, you will squat on 32nd place this season. 2011, Jake Locker is all yours.

Playoffs - NFC - West - San Fran (12-4)
            - NFC - South - New Orleans (10-6)
            - NFC - North - Green Bay (11-5)
            - NFC - East - Dallas (11-5)
            - Wild Card - Minnesota (10-6)
            - Wild Card - Washington (9-7)

            - AFC - West - San Diego (14-2)
            - AFC - South - Indianaoplis (14-2)
            - AFC - North - Baltimore (13-3)
            - AFC - East - New York Jets (14-2)
            - Wild Card - Miami (11-5)
            - Wild Card - Pittsburgh (9-7)

***Teams with this will be in detail later***

Whacky World of Wizards' Prayers

Okay...GO....now stop...

anyways - Welcome to Shake's whacky world of Wizards' Prayers!

Congratulations, Washington! Ted Leonsis, after a long sit down with David Stern, has become the majority owner of the Washington Wizards. The conditions discussed between Stern and Leonsis was that Stern would award the #1 over all pick in this year's draft to the Washington Wizards if Ted bought the team.

Wait what?

(this is all made up in my head, so don't believe me)

Yeah, Stern chooses who gets what picks in certain situations, and this is one of them. He will do anything to hurt Gilbert Arenas now, and if making him more useless in Wash., with a new owner who has no real attachment to him and knows how to get rid of the dead weight on a losing team, then Stern will hand over John Wall to the Wizards.

John Wall (PG) Kentucky will be backup to Shaun Livingston to begin the season, averaging 25 minutes until Allstar break, where he will take over as Starting PG when we'll be able to move Livingston to SG or backup SG. We'll have resigned Earl Boykins and Cartier Jackson.

Andray Blatche and Nick Young get traded to the 76ers for the #6 overall pick. Here we draft Cole Aldrich. He will backup at center from the get go. He'll be totally raw, but still get his playing time backing up McGee when he gets into foul trouble. And then when Aldrich gets into trouble, our second round pick will back them up. (Dexter Pittman)

We will re-sign James Singleton and have Al Thornton.

Quintin Ross keeps his contract and re-sign Cartier Martin to a full year contract.

We'll draft Gani Lawal out of Georgia Tech with our late first round pick from Cleveland. He's a Thick PF/C but only stands 6'8"

So what's left? Well, what's gonna happen to Arenas? We cut him, buy him out for about 26 million, and move on our way.

Free Agent Market? Do we make a play at anyone big? Not really big...but we have options...

Option one - If we want to be competative the most this next season, acquiring Joe Johnson SG Atlanta Hawks for a multi-year (4 or 5) deal will be a key. He will go for a pretty penny though. Fill him in at SG

Option two - Udonis Haslem PF Miami Heat. Worth 5 or 6 million for a few 2 years.

Option 3 - Matt Bonner - PF/C San Antonio - Deadly from 3 point range. 1 year

PG - John Wall, Cedric Jackson, Earl Boykins
SG - Joe Johnson, Shaun Livingston, Cartier Martin, Quintin Ross
SF - Al Thornton, James Singleton
PF - Udonis Haslem,  Matt Bonner, Gani Lawal
C - JaVale McGee, Cole Aldrich, Dexter Pittman

John Wall - $4.3
Cedric Jackson - $0.6
Earl Boykins - $1.4
Joe Johnson - $17.4
Shaun Livingston - $1.6
Cartier Martin - $0.6
Quintin Ross - $1.1
Al Thornton - $2.8
James Singleton - $1.8
Udonis Haslem - $7.0
Matt Bonner - $3.0
Gani Lawal - $0.85
Javale McGee - $1.6
Cole Aldrich - $2.6
Dexter Pittman - $0.6

This puts our cap at 47.25

Now....Lets go ahead and see what is really gonna happen.

Gilbert Arenas - 17.7
Shaun Livingston (RS) - 1.6
Cedric Jackson(RS) - 0.6
Earl Boykins (RS)- 1.4

Joe Johnson (FA)- 15.6
Quintin Ross - 1.1

Al Thornton - 2.8
James Singleton(RS) - 1.8
Dominc McGuire - 1.1

Andray Blatche - 3.2
Demarcus Cousins, Derrick Favors, Cole Aldrich, or Georgetown's Greg Monroe (4th overall pick or trade down) - 3.1
Gani Lawal (32nd Pick) - 0.85

Hilton Armstrong (FA) - 3.3
Javale McGee - 1.6
Dexter Pittman (2ndRound) - 0.6 (we need the size)

Under 57 million for Cap. (Gilbert KILLS us....Sigh)

We shall see, Wizards fans. We aren't dead in the water...it'll be a 30 win season, maybe....you never know. I can't see us winning 40 games with Gilbert and Blatche on our team as starters. Some trading has to happen on draft day. Can only hope that Gil, Dray, and Young are involved and it means more picks or a top pick.

CptMasterShake's NBA MockDraft and FA's 2010

Welcome to CptMasterShake's NBA MockDraft and FA's 2010

Volunteer General Managers will represent Each NBA Franchise leading into the 2010-2011 NBA season. We will perform a Mock Rookie Draft and also make Trades and bid-war on Free Agents. General Managers will be encouraged and some-what regulated on performing “realistic” against “wishful” trades and acquisitions.

******Due to the lack of involvment and teams not being filled quick enough, I have waived the Team Favorite and Current level > allstar requirements.******

The Regular season is over and seeding has been set for the 2010-2011 NBA Rookie Draft.

The Official NBA Rookie Draft is scheduled for June 24 2010 at 7:00pm in New York, New York.

The Lottery Announcement will be May 18th, 2010.

Our Rookie Draft will begin June 10 at 8:30pm EST – Two weeks to lead up to the draft.

Trade Discussions will begin immediately but Trade announcements not until June 3, 8:30pm EST. (Trades will then continue until July 5th.)

Team Options will be due June 1, 12:00am. (So the night before)

Free Agents will begin June 25, 12:00am following the Actual NBA draft. I will Create a Thread the day before for "Free Agents" where all GM's will then PM me, from there, their offers and I will then review for each player over the following few days (there will be a lot, so 'be cool'). I beg that no other posts be put there so that it will be easy for me. I will hopefully set it up this way, I will post a comment in the Free Agent thread with simply the name and a small suggestion of what that player is looking for. If you wish to make an offer to that player, "reply" to that comment with that player by my and private message your offer and "uses and reasons I should play there." That way I will be able to see all offers for the individual player. It will make things go much faster and smoother. just remember to PM and not give away your offer to other GMs. I will not be listing EVERY single player to begin with, After the beginning of the free agency has gone through, a new thread will be created, with teh original post showing what players ahve already signed out of free agency, and a "list" of potential remaining players. Then free agency is open to pm me from there on any remaining players. Please note this may take a lot of attention and should be a fun final piece of the puzzle to our Mock.

What to do:

If you have elected to take responsibilities of a team, please be considerate of other participating GM’s and be responsive to inquiries and offers. Daily response and attention may be required, but not necessary in most cases.

Respond to trade offers with more than a simple “No.” Please include reasoning for the rejection or the counter-offer in detail. (Detail = salary information, needs vs wants, and current roster position rolls)

Keep in mind that everyone will be participating in the Free Agency following the Draft.

Manage your team with a business attitude towards Salary Cap and Future Salary cap.

Coaches can be hired/fired and must be replaced BEFORE the Mock Draft begins. Coaching will go on a first ask first get basis on the discussion thread (PM me.) Coach K from Duke and Bobby Knight will not coach in the NBA.

Players like Michael Jordan and Sam Cassel are NO LONGER players, despite what they personally think. They will not be included in Free Agency, as well as players like them. (Steve Francis, Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell, Stephon Marbury)

After the Draft and Free Agency and any Final Trades have been wrapped up (July 5), each team will post an extensive analysis of the “whys and intentions” about the moves they made and give an internal analysis and debate of why their team has improved, and defend their madness behind their team’s goal to win the championship. We will then have a Final group/community analysis of the current state of the teams including polls, voting, more debate, mock season and playoffs. We are going to assume that the Salary Cap will be $56.5 Million. Our MLE (mid level exception) will be a flat $6.0 Million.

Separate Blogs will be created to help simplify the “Relevant Posts “, “Current team Roster + Salary”, “Smack board,” and “Draft board.”

Private Messages are strongly encouraged for trading inquiries and “rival team banter” for if GM Boston really feels like telling GM Lakers that his team sucks. Leave it out of the public eye, please, or put it in the smack board. The Smack Board can be used to let everyone know how you feel a GM’s trade or draft choice is “wrong” or “right” in a non constructive manner.

Each Representing GM MUST change their Avatar to their team’s CURRENT logo. Please accept this “sacrifice” for the summer.

Please use regular Text sizes as the Moderator will use Large Bold lettering to announce trades, draft picks, and Free Agent winners.

Trades are beginning June 3rd, 8:30 pm EST...so, with Team Options being due June 1st 12:00am EST, on that same day along with any Team Options your team may have, Submit your offers for your team's current unrestricted free agents. As with the free agency process, I will "act" in an un-biasd manner as the player and review the offer you give to me in detail (what your team intends to do planning wise in regards to how youre buidling a team for a championship and the player's expected role, as well as the years and salary amount, and if you're going to "sign and Trade".) I (as the player) will choose to accept, deny, or give you an idea of what I'm looking for and give you the opportunity to match it. I will not tell you what I'm looking for before June 1st. You will have until June 3rd to work out a contract with "me." This is happening before the trade beginning so that team's can offer possible "sign and trades" with other teams for salary rules reasons in trades. For the sake of arguement, if you have an offer/proposition for a "Sign and Trade" of a player....please stick to your word for the respect of the GMs and to save possible quitting.

Also another note, When making "proposals" and searching "interests" in trade, before the trading begins, please note that you're not simply saying "I will give you this and this, for this." and then with responses that say "okay ill do that." and then have someone offer a better offer and them saying "I changed my mind, sorry.".......Take your options, dont commit to anything until you and the other party are completely SOLD on the idea, and I would suggest not doing so until the end of may or between june 1st and 3rd. Since there is no way I can keep track of "who said theyd do this and they changed their mind" im leaving it to you guys to just be honorable and not step on anyone's toes. At the same time, even though someone says theyll consider one thing, make sure you have backup plans, etc in the event they go with another option.

Try not to get too crazy with this stuff guys, I mean, Trading Kobe Bryant or Dwight Howard isnt realistic in any bit...if your team made the playoffs and you arent losing any major contracts, dont blow up your team...youre winning...

Now, trading will be allowed during the draft, I will make sure there is ample time for pick and trading...

When awarded the GM of a team, pleas PM me your roster using the format others have used already. (see Washington Wizards in the BLOG setup for Team Status for Mock Draft. I would like you to go to the BLOG that has the other Rosters from OUR GMS, not the Hoopshype website, and copy and paste a team that has already done theirs. Take their team's information out, and input your players, and 2010 salaries. Also fill in your draft picks, etc like the others. The link is in the main blog.
Additional Information will be added if necessary.

All Trades should be PM'd to me in REPLY to THIS message. (click reply under this message box, not reply to thread or reply to someone elses thread)

I will update rosters as they happen, be patient.

Please include Salaries for EACH PLAYER and PICK as well as trade exceptions, etc. Be detailed.

I need BOTH TEAM GM's to Private Message me the EXACT SAME MESSAGE regarding the trade details. If there are multiple teams involved, get together with all teams involved, and ALL THREE TEAMS have the SAME message. Even if the third team has nothing to do with the first team...if a player from the first team ENDS UP on the Third or Fourth team passing through team two, whatever, it MUST be included.

Ex. - If the Washington Wizards trade Andray Blatch and Nick Young to Cleveland for Delonte West, and then Cleveland trades Andray Blatche to the Clippers for draft picks (just an example, not happening) then All three teams message each other, until you all have the SAME DRAFT for porposal of the trade including every detail.

The Draft starts THURSDAY NIGHT at 8:30pm EST. -http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/

The draft will most likely last all of the weekend and possibly into next week.
I hope everyone has done their homework on players entering this year's rookie draft. If not, I'd suggest touching up on them during the next few days.

If you are going to be drafting in the first 20 picks, I suggest being around (I'd think everyone would be around) in the event that a team misses on a player they wished to draft and would feel more comfortable to trade down or give offers to teams if you want to trade up.

Each Team will have 20 minutes to Announce their Choice when it is their turn to pick. (I will announce when their time begins, and the time stamp on the message will be the starting time) Please be considerate of others by announcing your pick right away if there's no question on your pick, so that we can move on. I figured the first 10 picks or so will go rather quickly, unless a player announces their pick is for sale and wishes to trade down. If this is the case, simply announce "The Blankety Blanks are looking for offers to trade down." He will then have only his alotted time to receive offers. They get no extra time. If an agreement is made, the trade will be announced, and the pick will be made in the same message as the trade announcement (so if youre trading down, find out who the other team is drafting and announce in the draft, this prevents people from trading down picks for a target player only for the team they traded down for drafted that player with that pick ((I'd LoL if that happened to any of you, so dont be foolish)) .) If someone drafts your player, even after youve traded down, boo-hoo....

Please let me know if none of this works out for anyone. The draft date has been set since this was created. We will draft until 10:30 the first night and will stay ON SCHEDULE. So, we will AT LEAST get through picks 1 thru13 (I say this cause I know my pick won't last two seconds to be made)

Again, any discrepancies, please, let me know asap.

Draft will then continue throughout the weekend after the initial draft dates slightly differently. Each pick will be up for 2 hours MAXIMUM. When a pick is made, the 2 hours clock restarts. The first pick of the second day will begin at 10:00amEST. Any Gm's who think they may not be around will send me Top Five players IN ORDER, that they wish to draft if they are within 5 picks of the current pick. When their pick is up, if they are actually there, they can confirm with me who they want to pick (even if they're not on the list they initially gave) and the draft will move on. If the GM is absent for the ENTIRE two hours, the pick at the top of the list will be made. I hope all Gm's who know they are close to their pick can check in once every two hours at least to see the status of the draft. And could stick around to see what happens. But if not, it's going to be okay, some of us do work.

I know who I am targeting and have picks spread out pretty evenly where I wouldnt draft a player 7 picks ahead of where I was hoping him to fall if he is on someone's list before I'm able to draft him. You will have to trust me as I've done my best in being commisioner and keeping this as fair and fun as possible. If anyone DOES find a pick of mine to be "fishy" then please talk to me about it. And I will give you perfectly good reasons for my picks.

If you want to trade down your pick when your pick comes up, you must be present. If you are present, and wish to be humored by trade offers, you get 15 minutes. You will annoucne the same as before using "The Blankety Blanks are looking for offers to trade down." From that time stamp, you get 25 minutes. When that 25 minutes is up, your pick must be in, or (present or not) the player at the top of your list will be drafted. Please don't wait through all 25 of the minutes if you aren't that interested. Most trades should have taken place already, but some players get drafted and some players are still available when unexpected, so there's still some room.

The remainder of the draft will continue so-on until all 60 picks have been made. For all I know, this draft could be over the first night, or it could be over before the end of the day Friday if everyone keeps to it and doesn't want to try and trade down EVERY pick. I can't not give the time to trade down, so please try not to abuse the time given.

If something needs to be fixed for the drafting, let me know.

Good Luck

**A Note to everyone in trade talks, it helps to use "Reply" at the bottom of trade proposals from another GM when discussing trades with an individual GM with the last message you had with him about the trade, rather than the last message currently on the entire thread list, so that you can then click "See Replies" and "In Reply to" and see all messages directly related to that message, instead of searching through all the pages looking for the messages you want to read.

***Suggestion - For all current GM's while we are waiting for GM's to fill the team list, I suggest researching possible Free Agent targets and most importantly the top 80 draft prospects. This Year's draft is going to be heavy due to a lot of players opting for the draft due to possible CBA negotiations that may affect owners money to use on younger players. If you want to make a decent team, I suggest creating a word document with notes you pick up of possible draftees, etc, to post why you draft them when you do and how theyre going to help your team in the final "Analysis Presentation" of your team for our Mock season and playoffs in mid July. In no reason do you HAVE to do any of this and can do this half-assed and be lame, but it would be great if you did.***

CptMasterShake's Mock Free Agency

Free Agency

This is how it’s going to go down…There are going to be “rounds” The first “Round (Round 1) will be the top key players that are likely to be targeted in the free agency process (Lebron, Dwayne, Joe, Chris….) Then there will be a round 2 with more players, etc….This will cut down on the amount of time and give me the ability to focus on individual players and move on to the next round smoothly and avoid “Have you made your decisions yet, blah blah blah….

I’m going to have a Free Agency Blog page…On this page; there will be links to a discussion thread for several players. Go to designated free agent page of the player you wish to send an offer to.   Please write your proposals in this format. REMEMBER TO PRIVATE MESSAGE

“Team Name - Offer – Total amount

Amount of years

Amount to be paid each year

Interests for Player (IE – proposed player role, a Sign and Trade (please review sign and trades in Cap Rules link before attempting to offer a SnT,) team improvements, team goals, and projected timeline for potential)”

Be as detailed as you wish to improve your possibility of landing said player. You are trying to convince them to play for your team and no one else’s.

Please make the effort to read the Salary Cap and Free Agency rules…to prevent less work for me so this can go smoothly.

(Note* - 2nd round Rookie Salaries do NOT count towards your Salary Cap for this excersise until AFTER Free Agency has ended (So cap rules apply with everyone else contracted and 1st rounders) and every team needs a minimum of 14 players ((my rules))

Alright everyone....Here we go...get your offers ready...here's the lists for Rounds of free agency....

After Round 5, All other players not listed will be available to send in offers

Round 1 and 2 starts Friday morning…Each player from each list (that receives an offer) will make their decision by the end of the day. Offers must be received before 7:58pm EST for Round 1.

Round 1 players will be announced at 8:00pm...EST...

Round 2 players will continue accepting offers until 11:00pm...and announcements will be made shortly after.

Rounds 3 will be due by 6:00pm EST Saturday. Decisions shortly after.

Rounds 4 and 5 due 10:00pm EST Sunday. Player Decisions will be made Sunday 10:30pm

Free Agency will then continue on a daily basis. Offers will be made during the day, player decisions will be made in the evening

Don’t wait to write your offers until the day of the round…get on it now with 2 to 3 offers per position using a Canned Offer letter (in the format listed in the Main Blog above) So that you’re prepared if you whiff on a player you originally targeted.

If you are trying to do a Sign and Trade with a team, the “Player” must receive an offer letter from BOTH TEAMS with the details of the Sign and Trade…Offers for SnTs that are without the second participating team will not be considered.

Good Luck everyone…

I want to thank everyone for participating and puting forth the effort and I hope even more effort goes into your team evaluations Next week when this is all said and done.

I want to say that after Free Agency, no trades will be permitted.

I will create a format for Team Status's during free agency. Everyone will be required to Copy and paste THE EXACT FORMAT that I post and input your team's information, completely updated, with all players and salaries EXACTLY how it is formatted, with all salaries added together CORRECTLY (triple check) with the breakout that will be posted (in order to check validity of Cap)

The Team Status will then be updated completely for all to observe.

The Wizards will just like every other team, compete for free agents. I have ALREADY written my proposals, and will HOLD ABSOLUTELY NO BIAS as best as you all can trust me with for any free agents that are reqarded to the Wizards. Trust me for what it's worth that all my offers are already made, and will not change, and will be equally weighed against all agent offers. There's no other way, and I'm going to be as fair and as thorough as possible in my decision making for every free agent competition. I ask not to have an arguement over EVERY awarded contract, as it's not going to get anyone anywhere. If you wanted a player, you should make the best possible detailed proposal and I will read and analyze every bit of it. Go into years ahead, current, GM plans, everything you can imagine...convince the player.

The Blog and Discussion Threads will be made and posted late tonight. Good Luck everyone. Again PLEASE READ HOW SALARY WORKS AND HOW WE ARE PERFORMING THIS OFFSEASON FREE AGENCY ON THE MAIN BLOG AND ITS LINKS INCLUDED.
